Three Unique Wall Art Ideas

Outside the box is so in. Gathering some of my favorite ways to spice up your walls in style this summer.

Are you struggling to find unique artwork that fits your design taste and actually speaks to you? You’re not alone.

One of the most asked questions I receive as an interior designer, from both friends and clients alike, is where to find quality wall art. Similar to many elements of interior design, art is often seen as an elusive piece of the home decor puzzle.

But I’m here to tell you that there is incredible art out there for everyone! In this blog, I outline three of my favorite unique wall art ideas so you can find inspiration for your own home. So long boring walls!

1. Have fun with multimedia

If you’re crafty, this one’s for you. There are so many interesting ways to use multimedia pieces as wall art. You could have your favorite silk scarf professionally framed as a textile art piece. Purchase a free sample or small quantity of luxe wallpaper, cut it to a custom size, and pop it in a vintage frame. Pick out a coffee table book or magazine from a thrift store (or your existing collection) and carefully cut out a page to frame.

2. Go bold with frames and mat boards

I love the look of simple, small, or black and white art with a bold frame or mat. This option is especially helpful if you need to keep costs low or have a specific color scheme in mind that can be easily executed in the framing. This is a great way to create a statement without the need to purchase oversized art.

3. Use walls as your canvas

This method is the best way to make a statement in any room. Instead of focusing on frameable art, paint a larger mural directly on your wall across the entire room. This concept creates a similar sense of cohesion as wallpaper, but breaks away from repeated patterns for a more evocative and playful look.

I hope you’re feeling more confident and excited about the vast world of wall art after reading this. That’s all for now, see you next month. xx
